We hold deep passion for building community and learning together, so please join us in our workshops and gatherings. Gatherings and workshops are held throughout the year for all with some workshops specially designed for kids, families, women, and LGTBQA+.
Around each solstice and equinox, we will host our seasonal Homestead Open House. This is an opportunity for us to open the homestead to the whole community. Our Homestead Open Houses will always include a fireside story and tea, hike or woods adventure, fort building, and crystal sale.
One of our goals for hosting gatherings is to have them financially accessible to everyone. Therefore, we have created a sliding scale for each gathering. The middle of the sliding scale indicates the true cost for facilitating and hosting the gathering. Those that are able to pay above the true cost of the gathering (the highest value) will support both those who are unable to pay in full and help us build a fund to support individuals to attend future gatherings. We hope that participants choose a payment that feels best for them and their families.
Gatherings will be facilitated Lizzy, Nora and guest instructors at the homestead and adjoining properties. Most gatherings will happen in our outdoor classroom, which is outfitted with a firepit, outdoor kitchen, tables and workspaces, and surrounding forests. Our outdoor classroom is nestled in the woods close to our gardens and multipurpose barn, which houses an indoor space for workshops, woodshop, and is home to our sheep

Bow Drill Workshop
April 23 & 24, 1p-4p
You walk in the forests of New England. You have a knife and nothing else. You’re on a mission: today you will make a fire…without matches, or a lighter, or flint and steel. You wonder if you can do it. You pass by trees: willow, eldar, linden…and then you see it: the tree that will start your fire. The one you will carve and craft and learn about yourself and what you can do. What humans and our ancestors have been doing for a few million years…making and tending fire. To cook our food, to tell our stories, to get cozy with our families, to connect alone out in nature beneath the stars by the light of a warm fire.
Can you really make fire with only the things you find in the forest? In this class you will learn the trees, collection methods, carving techniques, and skills to create fire the way it has been made for hundreds of thousands of years, using skills passed down from family to family across continents and time…to be passed to you. In this class, you will carve your own fire-by-friction set and will learn the skills and tools you need to go out into the woods with nothing and make a fire on your own. Whether you want to learn for the purposes of wilderness survival, or to connect with nature, or to be more self-sufficient, this class is for you.
Gathering cost $50-75-$100
